What a week in Austin! Championship Sunday delivered a thrilling conclusion to an unforgettable week of world-class tennis at the Austin Tennis Academy. After seven days of incredible matches, enthusiastic fans, and plenty of Texas energy, the inaugural AUSTIN125 wrapped up in spectacular fashion.

In front of a packed house, Renata Zarazúa made history as the first-ever AUSTIN125 singles champion, defeating Marina Stakusic 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in a gripping final. The third seed from Mexico showed incredible grit and heart, earning her third career WTA title and adding another highlight to a memorable season.

“I’m just very happy with the win,” Zarazúa said after the match. “It was a great week — the people were amazing, and winning the first edition of this tournament makes it feel extra special. I’m really grateful for everyone who supported me through the whole week.”

The doubles final saw the top seeds Maria Kozyreva and Iryna Shymanovich continue their dominant run, clinching the AUSTIN125 doubles title. The pair, who have already collected WTA 125 trophies in Bari, Valencia, and Guadalajara this year, proved once again why they are one of the most formidable duos on tour.

Our finalists, Carmen and Ivana Corley — talented sisters from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and former University of Oklahoma standouts — impressed Austin fans with their chemistry, energy, and fearless play, a testament to their rise from local courts to the global stage.

Tournament Director Christo Van Rensburg praised the event’s success:

“This first edition of the AUSTIN125 exceeded all expectations. From the high level of play to the sold-out semifinal and final matches, this tournament showcased why Austin is such a vibrant tennis city. Congratulations to Renata Zarazúa, and thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, and the Austin Tennis Academy for making this event possible.”

With the first-ever AUSTIN125 now in the books, one thing is clear — Austin has a new fall tennis tradition. Thank you for joining us and we’ll see you soon at the ATX Open!
