Wednesday’s Players to watch

Several exciting matchups headline tomorrow’s action. First on Center Court, Canada’s Bianca Andreescu continues her return to the top 100 as she faces Mexico’s Renata Zarazua. The former US Open champion defeated the third seed in her opening match, while across the net Zarazua, the inaugural Austin125 champion, will look to use her counterpunching and comfort in the slow conditions to challenge Andreescu’s game.

Second seed McCartney Kessler takes on Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan second on Stadium Court. The Georgia native is one of just two Americans remaining in the draw. The other is fifth seed Caty McNally, who faces Thailand’s Lanlana Tararudee on Court 1 in the first match starting at 12 PM.

Back on Stadium Court, not before 5 PM, Paula Badosa meets Lulu Sun in what could be one of the matches of the day. Badosa, a former Indian Wells champion and Australian Open semifinalist, thrives in big-match atmospheres. Sun, who played collegiately at the University of Texas and helped the Longhorns clinch the NCAA title in 2021, will feel right at home in Austin after toppling top seed Emma Navarro in straight sets earlier today.
